Butterflies are art

Lately I’ve been thinking about butterflies. I know it’s random but they’re some really gorgeous creatures. The way they flutter in the air and all the cool shapes and colors on their wings! For a really long time and even still now I’ve always been scared of butterflies. I mean not the way they look or anything but when they flutter in front of me I get freaked out and try to get away as soon as possible. And really I don’t understand why I do..I’m sure I’m not the only one but I always ask my self why are you so scared of them? Butterflies are beautiful innocent creatures of art. And sometimes these butterflies can even be used in fashion at times. When I see butterflies in art I immediately think of peace. Butterflies have a way of showing peace to me, by just the way they look and the way they flutter in the air. Many artists look towards butterflies to resemble in their art. Designers also, they want to add the element of a butterfly in their piece in some way. I think that I really need to stop imagining butterflies as some sort of bug that’s going to actually chop my head off. Next time one comes across me I’m going to tell myself not to be scared because really they’re a beautiful piece of art and what can they do to me? I’ll let you know how it works out :)

It was founded in 2009 by art director Anna Murray and textile and surface designer Grace Winteringam. Their love and passion for pattern came together and formed what we now call Patternity. Their shop impresses and inspires people around the world. Through their shop they want to encourage people to be themselves and to be artistic. So, what advice do they give us? The world?

Salvador Dali'

Salvador Dali'... my favorite artist! When I was little I went to his museum and I was so inspired. I was so fantasized by the many unique things he came up with. I instantly fell in love with his passion for art. He was born on May 11, 1904 in the town of Figueres, close to the French border in Catalonia, Spain. He attended drawing school as a teen and discovered modern painting on a vacation. His mother died when he was 16 and his father then married his deceased wife's sister. After this, he moved to Madrid, Spain and went to the School of Fine Arts. Art was his life and he didn't need anything else. He painted one of his most famous master pieces in 1931, The Persistence of Memory, which shows images of soft, melting pocket watches. Salvador died at the age of 84. Though, his work is still alive to me. To me he lives on forever. He was an inspiration to everyone who came across his work and I wish he was still here today to make more spectacular art. But things always happen for a reason. I still remember that day I came across his work. I won't forget it. He's inspired me that even though things may come across hard I have to keep working hard to really get what I want. Not much people tend to inspire me, and though some have, I think he's the one who's actually stuck throughout for a long time. His art is so very unique and I've never seen something more lively and surreal. I wish I could draw and paint masterpieces like him! I'm not much of an artist though. The best I can draw is stick people. When I was at that museum I bought a little cube that I could flip and it would show his art. I don't know what happened to it but I sure wish I had it with me now. :)
