Marilyn Monroe

Born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. Norma Jeane spent most of her time in foster homes and orphanages till 1937 when she moved in with a family friend, Grace McKee Goddard. Sadly, Grace could not afford to take care of Norma Jeane. So, she had two options: Get married or return to the orphanage. She ended up marrying her 21-year-old neighbor. Though, the marriage eventually ended. Soon after, she changed her name to Marilyn Monroe and became an actress. She starred in many movies such as Niagara. Which delivered her to stardom. At the age of 27 she became the best-loved blond bombshell in Hollywood. On January 14, 1954 Marilyn married baseball star Joe DiMaggio. For their honeymoon they went to Tokyo where Marilyn took time to perform for the Korean troops. Clearly DiMaggio was uncomfortable with this. Unfortunately, Joe and Marilyn divorced but stayed as close friends. After this, Marilyn wanted to become a serious actress. She took main leads in many movies such as Some Like it Hot, which helped her win a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in Comedy. On June 29, 1956 Marilyn married playwright Arthur Miller. They produced several movies together. Sadly, their marriage ended on January 21, 1961. At the 1962 Golden Globes, Marilyn was named female World Film Favorite. Sadly, on the early morning of August 5, 1962, 32-year-old Marilyn died in her sleep. The world was stunned. During Marilyn's career she made 30 films. Today the name "Marilyn Monroe" is synonymous with beauty, glamor, and sensuality. She remains an inspiration for everyone who strives for the goal of overcoming greatness.
